On Sunday, government officials including Sen. Joe Lieberman and Assembly Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez, State Treasurer John Chiang, Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell, Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson and Los Angeles City Controller Ron Galperin attended a roundtable focused on the topic of “Setting Education Policy for the 21st Century.”
Rabbi Pini Dunner of Young Israel of North Beverly Hills and Rabbi Y. Boruch Sufrin of the Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy were also a part of the second annual Community Leadership Roundtable.
“With technology and geopolitics in a constant state of change it is important to have an educational system which can rapidly adapt to new technologies and new information,” Pérez said. “By bringing so many varied and experienced voices to the table at one time we are able to create an environment to develop cutting-edge solutions to improve education for all children in Los Angeles.”
The discussion included over 60 participants with more than 150 people in attendance from the greater Los Angeles community. Sunday’s discussion was hosted by the Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy and held at Young Israel of North Beverly.
