Punk Rock at The Historic Farmers Market? It’s not as outlandish as it may seem. Members of such iconic bands as Blondie and The Sex Pistols are often to be found at EB’s Farmers Market Bar and have on occasion performed to packed crowds on the West Patio stage. The International Swingers is something of a Punk super-group formed by Clem Burke (Blondie), Glen Matlock (Pistols), James Stevenson (The Cult, Gen. X) and Gary Twinn (Twenty Flight Rockers and current mover/shaker behind Farmers Market Bars renovation projects).
This Saturday, Jan. 17, The Swingers will be rocking the Market as part of the Punk Rock cartoons exhibition presented by EB’s and hosted by Punk Museum curator Tequila Mockingbird. The exhibition of artist David Worth’s very colorful, animated caricatures showing many of Rock’s best known figures opens Friday evening and continues through the end of the month. The International Swingers take the West Patio stage at 7 p.m. No cover charge. The Original Farmers Market at 3rd & Fairfax.
