Work at the Columbia Square project at 6121 Sunset Blvd. will require some road closures and changes through the month of March.
From now until March 2, work will occur at the site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. The construction will affect the front of the property on the north side of Sunset Boulevard between El Centro Avenue and Gower Street. Workers will close the sidewalk and the No. 3 westbound lane, and they will shift the No. 1 and No. 2 westbound lanes into the left turn pocket and through the intersection of El Centro Avenue.
Columbia Square calls for a 20-story residential tower that will serve as the project’s centerpiece, along with 675,000-square-feet of mixed-use creative office, residential and retail.
The site is the former home to CBS Radio and Television, which first opened on Sunset Boulevard in 1927. It formerly houses the studios for KCAL-TV, KNX and KCBS-FM.
Kilroy Realty Corporation owns the land, and is planning a mix of long-term rentals, as well as furnished, extended-stay apartments.
Each of the 200 luxury one- and two-bedroom units will be 700 to 1,400 square feet. Four individually designed penthouse units of up to 4,000 square feet will be created.
