Firefighters responded to a small fire Saturday at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the Hollywood lot of Paramount Pictures, officials said.

The fire was reported to have occurred in a two-story building on the 5500 block of Melrose Avenue, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

“It was a small fire on the furnishings on an equipment cart,” he said.

The fire was put out about 15 minutes later, according to Humphrey.

It was not known immediately if the property damaged by the fire belonged to Paramount Pictures company or a subdivision that rents the lot, Humphrey said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
