Investigators with the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section have ruled that the massive fire that destroyed the unfinished portion of the Da Vinci apartments downtown on Dec. 8 was arson.
The LAFD is working with authorities from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to determine who and what caused the blaze. Last week, surveillance camera footage was released of two individuals who were seen near the site of the fire.
Authorities stressed that the two individuals are not considered suspects or persons of interest, and authorities would like to speak to them as potential witnesses. The apartment complex was under construction at 900 W. Temple St., next to the Hollywood (101) Freeway.
