Ivanhoe Elementary School in Silver Lake held a ceremony on Oct. 25 to rename the school’s auditorium as the LaBonge Family Auditorium, after Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge (right), 4th District. LaBonge was joined at the ceremony by his wife Brigid, son Charles and daughter, Mary-Kate. LaBonge and his children are alumni of the school, which celebrated its 125th anniversary this year. Brigid LaBonge also founded Friends of Ivanhoe, a fundraising organization supporting the school, which is located near Rowena Avenue and Glendale Boulevard.
