Thousands of people are expected to converge on West Hollywood and the surrounding neighborhoods this weekend for the 30th annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, which will be held on Sunday, Oct 12 and begins and ends at West Hollywood Park, 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. Sign-in will be held at 8:30 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 9:15 a.m.; and the walk at 10 a.m.

The event raises funds for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) and more than 20 additional HIV/AIDS service organizations in Los Angeles County. Last year, approximately 25,000 walkers and 2,500 volunteers raised more than $2.5 million for prevention, treatment and advocacy programs. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $76 million to fight the disease in Los Angeles County.

Limited street closures will be in effect throughout West Hollywood during the walk. San Vicente Boulevard will be closed from Santa Monica Boulevard to Melrose Avenue from 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12. The east side of San Vicente Boulevard will also be closed from Beverly Boulevard to Melrose Avenue from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 12, and Robertson Boulevard will be closed from Melrose Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 12. Numerous additional streets will also be closed temporarily during the walk.
