Short Order Oktoberfest
Short Order will offer a bratwurst plate from Friday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5 that includes beer-braised bratwurst, housemade sauerkraut and pickled mustard seed on a Short Cake pretzel bun, priced at $18. Short Order is also offering drink specials for Oktoberfest that include Black Market Oktoberfest Lager on draft, as well as Glühwein—hot German-style wine with mulling spices and citrus peel. Tacos at Rockefeller
Celebrate National Taco Day on Saturday, Oct. 4 with the Rockefeller’s signature tacos. With locations in Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, the New York inspired gastro-pub serves tacos with a creative twist. From the housemade spicy pepper orange salsa on the braised short ribs to the wasabi crema on the seared ahi, the tacos are different than any other. For Oktoberfest, Rockefeller will offer special German beers through the end of October, with four varieties of Paulaner on tap. One-liter steins will be priced at $13, or for $20, diners can keep the glass and enjoy $11 refills. Permission to Come Aboard
Cafe del Rey’s culinary fishing expedition sets sail on Saturday, Oct. 4, with executive chef Chuck Abair taking the “farm-to-fork” experience to the next level. Participants can sail from Marina del Rey along the coastline during an all hands on deck experience in which they may reel in the catch of the day. The half-day fishing trip departs from the Marina del Rey harbor and is priced at $55 per person. The fishing trip runs from 7 a.m. to noon, and includes a fishing license. National Noodle Day
RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen will offer an exclusive menu on Monday, Oct. 6 to celebrate noodles. Executive chef Mohan Ismail, a native of Singapore, is serving eight Southeast Asian noodle bowls and dishes that are not featured on the regular menu. Oct. is National Seafood Month
Diners can enjoy succulent fresh water crab and mouth-watering Chilean sea bass during National Seafood Month in October at the iconic Water Grill downtown. Originally opened in 1991 and later reopened in 2012 after a $1.5 million renovation, Water Grill downtown offers some of the freshest, high-quality fish in Los Angeles. Chaya Downtown Celebrates Five Years
With deep roots in Japan, the CHAYA team brought a Japanese beer garden and other Japanese culinary influences to downtown Los Angeles when they opened five years ago. The new menu by executive chef Shigefumi Tachibe offers braised Moroccan lamb shank and stuffed squash blossom tempura. Buccaneer Days
Santa Catalina Island Company is hosting Catalina Island’s biggest party of the year running today, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 5 at Two Harbors. Culinary adventurers can set sail for a weekend of fun with great food, drinks, live music, treasure hunts and costume contests. Bands will perform live music, and DJs will be spinning tunes late into the night. The “Pirate Village” will be created on the Harbor Reef Restaurant deck and the plaza, with multiple bars, treasure hunts and pirate costume contests. Admission is $30 per person. Veuve Clicquot at The Bazaar
A six-course tasting menu priced at $185 per person will be available from Monday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 12 at The Bazaar. Additionally, a special rosé champagne and bonbon pairing will be offered in The Patisserie. On Friday, Oct. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., The Bazaar will host a special Veuve Clicquot-themed “Terrace Tasting Series” on the Bar Centro Terrace. Halloween Time at Disneyland
Visitors can enjoy the “not too spooky” festivities at Disneyland through Friday, Oct. 31.
