Police are searching for a suspect and motive for a homicide that occurred on Sept. 27 in the 4100 block of Rosewood Ave. in East Hollywood in which a 38-year-old man was shot and killed.

LAPD spokeswoman Sara Faden said the shooting occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m. in front of an apartment building near Rosewood and New Hampshire avenues, in a residential neighborhood north of Beverly Boulevard and just west of the Hollywood (101) Freeway.

The victim, identified as Alexander Garcia, was with another man in front of the building when they were approached by an unidentified armed suspect who started firing at the victims. Garcia was struck and later died. The second victim was not struck by the gunfire.

“It’s an ongoing investigation,” Faden said. “According to the other victim, they had never seen the suspect before. We don’t know what the motive was.”
