Rosendahl, 17, will represent the United States at the 2014 FINA World Junior Diving Championship, running from Tuesday, Sept. 9 through 14 in Penza, Russia. She will compete in the one-meter and three-meter springboard diving events in the 16 to 18 age group. She will also travel to Mexico City at the end of September to compete in the Synchronized Girls Platform competition at the 2014 Pan Am Olympic Festival.
Rosendahl’s achievements at the USA Diving Junior National Championships earned her the top overall score among the 95 young women in her age group. The five-day event was held from Aug. 4 through 9 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Rosendahl, who trains with the Trojan Dive Club in Los Angeles, won the junior national title in the Synchronized Girls Platform with diving partner Rachel Rubadue, from Columbus, Ohio. The pair also clinched the fifth spot in the Synchro 3M springboard competition. In individual events, Rosendahl placed second in the nation on the one-meter and three-meter boards, and came in fifth in the platform event.
While competing at last week’s 2014 USA Diving AT&T National Diving Championships, which were also held in Knoxville, Rosendahl and Rubadue finished second among college-age divers in the Synchronized Women’s Platform event. Rosendahl also placed third in the nation on the 10-meter Platform at the Senior Nationals.
“Immaculate Heart congratulates Olivia on her outstanding performances at both the Junior and Senior Nationals,” Immaculate Heart athletic director Maureen Rodriguez said. “She is an amazing diver, and we are very proud of her accomplishments.”
