The Beverly Hills Police Department has announced that man who was arrested on Saturday, July 26 for shoplifting and claimed to be Scott Weiland, the former frontman for the band Stone Temple Pilots, was not the rock ‘n’ roll vocalist.
Officers received a call of a shoplifting incident at approximately 9:34 a.m. on July 26 at a Rite Aid in the 400 Block of North Bedford Drive. Police arrested a suspect for the crime who identified himself as Weiland. The suspect was taken into custody for burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
On Thursday, Aug. 21, investigators discovered through an FBI fingerprint analysis that the subject arrested is not Weiland, and in fact is an individual named Jason Michael Hurley, 44. In addition to the original charges, the suspect will now likely face a charge of furnishing false information to a peace officer, according to police.
