The rapper and entertainer known as “Ray J” pleaded no contest on Aug. 28 to a charge stemming from an incident at a Beverly Hills bar, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has announced.

Through his attorney, Ray J, whose legal name is Willie Ray Norwood Jr., 33, pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor trespassing. Deputy District Attorney Candice Jan prosecuted the case.

Judge Edward Moreton sentenced Norwood to three years summary probation and 50 hours of community service. The defendant also was ordered to attend alcohol and anger management classes. Additionally, Judge Moreton ordered him to stay away from the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel. As part of the negotiated settlement, Norwood will have to pay any restitution— the amount of which will be determined at Dec. 8 hearing — resulting from the May 30 incident.

Norwood was arrested after refusing to leave the hotel bar and allegedly groping a woman, the prosecutor said. While in police custody, he broke a patrol car window, the prosecutor added. The case was investigated by the Beverly Hills Police Department.
