A driver crashed into a fire hydrant near the corner of 6th Street and Irving Boulevard on Tuesday morning, shearing off the hydrant and sending water gushing into the air near the mayor of Los Angeles’ official residence at Getty House. The collision occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m., and firefighters and Department of Water and Power crews shut off the water shortly before 8 a.m. The fire hydrant was repaired within two hours. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision, and it remains under investigation.
