Authorities have released the description of a suspect who allegedly caused a fatal hit-and- run collision in Koreatown on Monday that killed one pedestrian and seriously injured two other people.

The suspect, who is described as a Hispanic man approximately 35 to 40 years old, fled the scene of the collision on foot. Authorities said he was traveling eastbound on Beverly Boulevard at a high-rate of speed at approximately 6:40 a.m. and ran a red light at Normandie Avenue, where he collided with a northbound Toyota Camry. The suspect’s Ford F-150 pick-up jumped the curb and struck three pedestrians who were waiting at a bus stop at the northeast corner of the intersection. A third vehicle, which authorities described as a BMW, was also struck in the collision.

The 45-year-old deceased victim had not been publicly identified as of Wednesday, pending the notification of next of kin. Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office spokesman Ed Winter said the victim has family in Mexico, but authorities have had difficulty contacting them.

The other two victims were hospitalized with severe injuries, and are expected to survive. The drivers of the two other vehicles were not reported to have sustained significant injuries.

The suspect was described as being approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, and was wearing a red shirt and black pants. He left the pick-up at the scene, and was last seen running eastbound on Beverly Boulevard.

Police did not disclose whether the pick-up was stolen or the name of the vehicle’s registered owner.
