Jurors on June 26 recommended the death penalty for a former pizza delivery man who killed four women in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has announced.

The jury earlier found 47-year-old Chester Dewayne Turner guilty of four counts of first-degree murder, as well as the special circumstances of multiple murders and prior murder convictions. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert Perry scheduled sentencing for Aug. 1.

Turner strangled the four women to death. The victims were identified as Elandra Bunn, 33, who was found dead on June 5, 1987; Deborah Williams, 28, who was found on Nov. 16, 1992; Mary Edwards, 42, found on Dec. 16, 1992; and Cynthia Annette Johnson, 30, located on Feb. 22, 1997.

Turner was already serving time on death row for killing 10 women and an unborn child in murders that occurred from 1987 to 1998. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 2007. The victims wee primarily from the South Los Angeles area, however two of the homicides allegedly occurred in the downtown area. The case was investigated by Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.
