Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz, 5th District, honored Los Angeles Fire Department Capts. Sterling Johnson (fourth from left) and Andre Raya (not pictured), of Fire Station 61, for more than 30 years of service in May and June.
While visiting the fire captains to honor their service, Koretz got a first-hand look at the repaired apron to the driveway of the fire station. In April, the LAFD contacted his office to ask for help repairing the apron.
According to Koretz’s office, it was clearly damaged, and the rebar was beginning to stick out, posing a danger to the station’s vehicles. The council office put in a request to have the apron fixed, and on June 15, the repairs were made.
“I am very glad to see this get fixed so that the thousands of people who live and work in the Fairfax and Miracle Mile neighborhoods can be serviced effectively,” Koretz said. “The last thing in the world we want is for a tire to pop when the LAFD goes out for a call with somebody’s life in danger.”
He also praised Johnson and Raya.
“The people in this part of town are in very good hands,” Koretz added.
