A sheriff’s deputy in West Hollywood arrested the 20-year-old son of actor Robert Downey Jr. on Sunday after he was allegedly observed smoking cocaine from a pipe while riding in a vehicle near Santa Monica and La Cienega boulevards.

Sgt. Dave Valentine, with the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, said the deputy pulled the vehicle over at approximately 2 p.m. and took Indo Falconer Downey into custody. Deputies searched the vehicle and found a pipe and what Valentine described as a “small amount” of cocaine. Downey was booked at the West Hollywood Station for possession of a controlled substance, and was released early Monday morning on $10,000 bail.

Valentine said Downey was riding in the passenger seat and was one of two people in the vehicle. The driver, who was not under the influence, was not cited or arrested, Valentine added. Authorities will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution, he added.
