Yamashiro Farmers Market
For their 100th anniversary, Yamashiro Hollywood and City Farm will offer a Farmers Market on Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m. through September 4. Yamashiro’s Executive chef Brock Kleweno offers a taco menu to hungry shoppers. His menu includes miso-glazed black cod fish tacos, duck confit with spiced hoisin and blood orange salsa, beef with red wine and sake-braised short rib or chicken with pulled light and dark meat and spicy peanut sauce. Sides include ginger pico de gallo, chili salsa roja, wasabi guacamole, and bread and butter pickled shishito. Family activities will be available. The Pagoda Bar will be open for drinks and light fare each week. Ladybug Release Party
A family fun event on June 1 at the Coquelicot Vineyard includes the release of thousands of ladybugs into the Coquelicot vineyard to reflect the estate’s deep commitment to organic agriculture. Instead of pesticides, they use ladybugs to keep their crops happy and healthy. Tour the vineyard, sip wine, enjoy a delicious multi-course BBQ, and listen to live music. The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. This special day is $79 for adults and $25 for children. Napa Valley Grille Wine Dinner
On Wednesday, May 28 at 6 p.m., Executive Chef Taylor Boudreaux invites guests to a five-course seasonally inspired winemaker dinner hosted with Gauthier Select Vineyards. Chef Boudreaux’s rustic dishes include a bacon risotto, braised oxtail, summer squash ravioli, and goat cheese gelato with the award-winning Gauthier wines sourced small batch vineyards in Sonoma, Yountville, and Santa Lucia Highlands. CAFE del REY’s Winemakers Dinner
The May wine dinner features varietals from Jordan Winery on Thursday, May 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. Executive Chef Chuck Abair’s five-course prix-fixe menu includes ingredients like Maine diver scallops, lamb porterhouse, and black truffles to pair with Jordan’s signature Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay for $135 per person. 4451 Admiralty Way (310)823-6395.
Tam O’Shanter Beer Pairing Dinner
Allagash Brewing Company is coming on May 28 to the Tam, one of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles. Guests arrive at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy four Allagash beers paired with four courses prepared by Executive Chef Mark Kalenderian. The beers are Allagash White, Red Howes, Allagash Saison and Midnight Brett. Maine-based Allagash Brewing will have a representative on hand to answer questions and talk about the featured beers. Tea at the Langham
On Sunday, June 1, there are two seating’s for a special tea and magic show at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Junior performers from the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood will be on hand to entertain young tea guests. They will perform close-up magic, while children sip pink lemonade, milk or caffeine-free tea. Kids will love the magically-decorated cookies, ham, turkey and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and whimsical desserts. Children are also invited to attend dressed as whichever character, person or animal most appeals to their imagination. During the tea, each child will then be invited to enjoy a special photo op on the magic stage in the Lobby Lounge. Prices are $48 for adults and $28 for children four to 12. Chili Cook-Off
On June 1 come to Bartels’ Harley-Davidson to enjoy a bowl of Bill Bartels’ famous chili from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Contestants will bring their best chili recipes to the contest to be judged by a panel of celebrity judges. There is a limit to 15 contestants. Winners will be announced at 2:45 p.m. All contestants will receive a free Bartles’ Chili Cook-Off apron. Taste of Main Street
Come enjoy a day of games and culinary delights for a great cause on Memorial Day weekend, Sunday, May 25 from 2 to 8 p.m. Main Street Santa Monica’s best food and beverage establishments offer food and drink specials to raise funds for Summer SOULstice and Heal the Bay. Play MAINopoly, a fun, interactive community event that mirrors the classic board game and gives participants a culinary tour of Main Street’s finest restaurants, juiceries, coffee shops and bars.
