Champion Hot Dog
With the BCS National Championship on January 6 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Dog Haus is offering team specific specials now through game day. Try the Auburn Tigers honey stung fried chicken sandwich with sliced pickles and Haus slaw. It goes well with the War Eagle cocktail of Tito’s vodka with blueberry lemon. Tiger shots are $4 all day. The sandwich for the Florida State Seminoles is a Jerk chicken sandwich with black beans, garlic aioli, pickled onion and cilantro slaw. The team cocktail is The Heisman with Tito’s vodka pomegranate and cranberry. Fans can also cheer for their team on game while watching one of the seven flat screen televisions. On game day, fans can participate in a Tito’s vodka raffle, Dog Haus football pool, and listen to a DJ, while sipping happy hour prices. Dog Haus is open from 10 a.m. to midnight. Feniger’s Street is Now Mud Hen
Top Chef Master contestant Susan Feniger and her favorite chef Kajsa Alger rebranded their street-food restaurant and reopened as Mud Hen Tavern. It’s more of an American-style gastropub with a couple of Feniger’s beloved street-food dishes. Appetizers include green eggs and ham, tuna ceviche, and chicken with waffle croquettes. There are homemade soups, salads and veggie dishes too. Pizza, burgers, and Feniger’s Kaya toast with coconut jam are also featured on the menu. Plates include farmhouse mac n’ cheese, maple whiskey glazed shortribs, and a vegetarian tostada. Save room for some of their sweet desserts. 742 N. Highland Ave. (323)203-0500.
Missing The Parrish?
Casey Lane closed the doors of this gastropub in 2013. If you crave Chef Lane’s cooking, The Tasting Kitchen is open with full dinner service and bar seven days a week. They are also open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The menu changes frequently. 1633 Abbot Kinney Blvd. (310)392-6644.
