A five-course wine tasting menu will be presented at the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Hotel & Resort during the Winemaker Dinner on Thursday, November 21 with Rancho Ventavo Cellars. Each of Chef Tim Hulbert’s courses will be paired with a glass of Rancho Ventavo wine. The first course of a poached chicken and romaine hearts salad will be paired with Cabernet Franc followed by a Tempranillo with Ahi tuna ceviche. A bold Zinfandel is served with the pork tenderloin course and a Petite Sirah is served with the lobster stuffed filet mignon. Dessert is a Merlot poached pear with a white chocolate mousse and funnel cake. From November 22 through December 1, the Dog Haus will celebrate the first and last union of the two holidays, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah by offering a specialty sausage created by Adam Gertler. It has all the flavors of Thanksgiving with a turkey sausage with cranberries, sweet potatoes, thyme and sage. GORGE Gives Thanks
On Tuesday, November 19 and Wednesday, November 20, GORGE is having a wine dinner presented by co-owners Chef Elia Aboumrad and Pastry Chef Uyen Nguyen, and Master Sommelier Darius Allyn. “Thanks for Giving” will celebrate the fall bounty to benefit The Hospitality Kitchen, an organization in Downtown Los Angeles that serves over 4,000 meals a week to L.A.’s less fortunate. The four-course menu, served with wine pairings selected by Allyn, is $110 per person. The menu includes an apple soup with crème fraiche, roasted pine nuts and chipotle served with two mystery sparkling wines. A wild mushroom tart with shallot confit with Parmesan shavings is served with two mystery white wines. Duck confit a l’orange with Valencia orange sauce and potato puree is served with two mystery red wines. For dessert the grand pumpkin macaron with pumpkin custard and caramelized almonds is served with a mystery dessert wine. 34th Annual Free Thanksgiving Day Feast
The world-famous Laugh Factory is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Day Feast, welcoming the underprivileged, the homeless and anyone who is alone for the holiday to a day of free food, fun, and comedy.
