One person was shot and killed and another was seriously wounded in what police said was a gang-related altercation on Nov. 9 near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and El Centro Avenue in Hollywood.
The deceased victim was identified as Travius Shearer, 23. The second victim, an unidentified 19-year-old resident of Los Angeles, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Lt. Marc Reina, with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division, said the victims were in a group from South Los Angeles that had chartered a party bus to attend a show at one of the nightclubs in Hollywood.
He said investigators believe the party bus had left the nightclub, and stopped near Sunset Boulevard and El Centro Avenue to allow passengers to use the restroom and dine at a Denny’s Restaurant near the location.
As the 40 to 50 passengers were returning to the bus at approximately 11:40 p.m., some of them became involved in an altercation with another group.
One of the people in the other group pulled out a handgun and started shooting, Reina said.
Police have identified two people allegedly involved in the shooting, and they were arrested and booked for murder. One was identified as Deondie Wilson, 26, of Lynwood, while the other is an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile.
Reina said detectives are still investigating who specifically had the gun and fired the shots, and added that investigators are still looking for another suspect who was involved, although no description or information was available.
Police are also seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the shooting, and are trying to identify any businesses in the area that may have captured footage of the crime on surveillance cameras.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dets. Keyzer or Acero, with the LAPD’s West Bureau Homicide Unit, at (213)382-9470.
