The Los Angeles Dodgers on Sept. 27 hosted the club’s first-ever LGBT Night Out as the team took on the Colorado Rockies.
Former Dodger Billy Beane and NBA player Jason Collins (right), both openly gay, threw out the first pitch, and ‘N Sync’s Lance Bass (left) announced that “It’s time for Dodger baseball!”
Glee’s Amber Riley performed “The Star Spangled Banner” with members of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles.
Of the club’s first LGBT night, Collins said, “It’s great. The Dodgers organization supports the entire community, and the entire community supports the Dodgers.”
On an unrelated note, the stadium offered a moment of silence in memory of Jonathan Denver, a Dodger fan and the son of a Dodger Stadium security guard who was stabbed to death during an altercation following the Dodgers’ game in San Francisco on Sept. 25.
