Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department Commercial Crimes Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying individuals who are responsible for a series of fraudulent cargo thefts — commonly referred to as “fictitious pickups — throughout Los Angeles.A “fictitious pickup” is a crime where a truck driver presents counterfeit documentation to pick up cargo. The drivers generally obtain cargo without leaving any clues about their true identity.On Tuesday, Aug. 13, detectives discovered a cold-storage warehouse located in North Hollywood that is allegedly connected to the cargo thefts.
