National Caviar Day
Today at Petrossian Boutique & Restaurant participate in their most elevated caviar class – Caviar 301. The class will begin with a choice of Petrossian’s caviar martini, a flute of Champagne, a flute of vodka, or a glass of white wine. Guests are led through a tasting of some of Petrossian’s most expensive caviars from around the world while enjoying a caviar-centric seven-course dinner. New Seafood-centric Restaurant
Sirena is a new Cali-Italian restaurant with Chef Sandy Gendel (Pace and Cheebo) serving cioppino for two on Monday nights. From now through July 26, Executive Chef Daniel Roberts is preparing a three-course, Mediterranean prix fixe menu for lunch at $25 per person and $45 for the dinner menu. A special wine selection is available at an additional cost. The lunch menu includes grilled tiger shrimp or an agnolotti of sweet corn. The entrée is a poached salmon salad in a tarragon dressing. Finish with a peach upside down cake with ricotta ice cream, salted caramel and peach honey. The dinner menu has steamed mussels and choice of basted salmon or petit chateau filet. Yamashiro
Executive chef Brock Kleweno will host celebrity chef Manouschka Guerrier for a one-night, collaborative dinner on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. Together, chefs Manouschka and Brock will create a unique, Haitian/Caribbean-meets-Asian/Californian five-course menu with wine pairings for 40 guests. Tablas Creek Wine Dinner
On July 25 at the Saddle Peak Lodge, Executive Chef Christopher Kufek and sommelier Jen Carter are working with Central Coast founder, Jason Haasand and his sales manager Darren Delamore, for a spectacular culinary evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The five-course dinner with wine pairing is $95 per person excluding tax and gratuity. Guests will be educated about each organic Tablas Creek wine and their nuances. Start with a summer salad with a glass of Vermentino. The halibut cheeks are paired with a 2012 Dianthus Rose. Next is a rabbit entrée with a Patelin Rhone blend. An Esprit de Beaucastel Rhone blend is served with a veal Wellington. Wine & Cheese Night
Olive & Thyme in Toluca Lake is hosting a cheese class with wine pairings on July 25. Owner Melina Davies and cheesemonger Tyler Schwarz is offering participants over a dozen cheese samples. Guests will learn about the criteria of cheese, understand how cheese is aged, its texture, methods of making cheese, fat content, animal milk and the regions of origin. Davies will hand select six wines from around the world to accompany the cheese selections.
