Police have arrested a suspect who allegedly posed as a cable worker and burglarized houses, but are still searching for his accomplice.

On May 28, a suspect who police identified as Armando Geuerrero allegedly knocked on a door at a residence in 700 block of East 85th Street. The suspect claimed to be a cable installer, and had been at the victim’s house two months earlier, so the victim did not think twice in letting the suspect inside. Unknown to the victim, the suspect previously worked for a cable company, but had been fired due to reports of thefts from customers. After the suspect entered the home, he allegedly stole valuables.

The suspect allegedly continued the burglaries at other locations, and included another former cable installer who was also fired for thefts.

On June 13, the two suspects, posing as cable installers, went to another victim’s home in the 1500 block of West 51st Street claiming they needed to fix cable connections in the home. The victim had not had any problems with the cable and had not called for service. After letting them into her home, she observed jewelry missing. One of the suspects returned to the victim’s home because he had forgotten some of his tools, and officers took the suspect, identified as Guerrero, into custody on two counts of burglary.

The second suspect, identified as Leonardo Vasquez, remains at large. He is wanted on six counts of burglary and one count of possession of a machine gun. He is described as a Hispanic man, 29 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and approximately 180 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, a tattoo of a Playboy bunny on his right hand, and a tattoo of lips on the left side of his neck.
