According to the Center for Summer Learning at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, kids lose, on average, one to two months of reading and math skills during summer vacation. Mathnasium of Hancock Park offers math-intensive summer programs that can help minimize the effects of this “Summer Slide.”
Because students aren’t burdened with excessive homework during the summer, they can seize an opportunity to fill in gaps from the previous year or, in many cases, get ahead in time for the new school year. Mathnasium’s summer program is designed to review the math skills absorbed during the school year and preview what lies ahead for children in the fall. Mathnasium offers a relaxed, collegial summer session environment where kids can actually find the joy in understanding mathematics. For older students with test-related goals, Mathnasium also offers SAT-math and ISEE-math prep. Both morning and afternoon hours are offered to be convenient to as many parents and kids as possible.
