Participants can receive instruction in art, science, creative writing and sports in a program that inspires, challenges and encourages students to discover new talents or build on existing strengths. The Marlborough Summer School program emphasizes the theme of “Art, Smart and Heart”. Art classes, such as anime, cartooning and comic book creation, teach students to express themselves through dance, painting and music. Smart classes, such as “poetry: create your own portfolio”, reinforce skills, challenge abilities and take students beyond traditional classroom learning. Heart-oriented classes, like fencing and gymnastics, help with physical fitness and well being.
All students entering grades K-12 in September are encouraged to attend. Some classes are designated by grade, while others are designated by ability. Swimming classes for children ages 1 and up are also offered.
The sessions are held Monday through Friday. The earliest classes begin at 8:15 a.m., and others are scheduled throughout the day. Before and after school care is available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lunch is provided for all students enrolled in afternoon classes during the five-week program, and breakfast, lunch and snacks are served daily at Marlborough’s Café M.

Music instruction is also offered this summer at Marlborough. (photo courtesy of Marlborough School)
Additionally, Marlborough Summer School offers one-week, day and evening sports camps from June 17 through 21 for students interested in basketball, water polo, tennis, soccer and volleyball. Current Marlborough students can also enroll in a class running from June 3 through 21 to earn course credit for emergency preparedness and water safety.
Marlborough School is located at 250 S. Rossmore Ave.
