The Los Angeles Police Department will be conducting sobriety and driver’s license checkpoints through Sunday morning at locations throughout the city.

In the local area, police will hold a checkpoint on Thursday, March 28 from 8 p.,. to 2 a.m. near the corner of Vermont Avenue and 6th Street, Additional checkpoints will be held on Friday, March 29 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Manchester and Denver avenues, and on Saturday, March 30 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Ventura Boulevard and Columbus Avenue.

The deterrent effect of sobriety checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of people killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized checkpoints are conducted frequently.
