Six adults and two juveniles were arrested for strong-armed robbery on Tuesday morning after two people were robbed of electronic items at the intersection of Yucca Street and Cherokee Avenue shortly after midnight in Hollywood.

Det. Gary Kukaua, of LAPD’s Hollywood Division, said the six adults — Semaj Kato, 20; Jamonte Hawthorne, 21; Quawntae Williams, 18; Ronnelle Carrillo, 19; Danielle Boykins, 18; and Isaac Gibson, 28 — and two juveniles robbed two people during one incident in which no weapons were used. One of the victims suffered minor injuries.

Kukaua referred to the group of young people as a “mob,” for lack of a better word. He said it’s unusual for so many individuals to be involved in one robbery.

“It’s very rare here in Hollywood,” Kukaua said.

He said it is possible that more people participated in the robbery, as the initial call reported 10 suspects at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Kukaua said the stolen items — a cell phone and a laptop — were recovered in North Hollywood through GPS software on the computer. He said it was another example of the importance of installing such software on electronic devices.
