A man was arrested in West Hollywood on June 28 for receiving stolen property that had been taken from two Brazilian visitors who were staying in Hollywood.
According to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, at approximately 1:10 am, deputies arrested Daniel Patrick Mason, 38, who was in possession of a Brazilian passport in the name of Fernanda Matias Peres and a Brazilian police identification card and badge in the name of Cassio Alberto Condi Garcia.
During the subsequent investigation, detectives learned the above items were inside a piece of luggage belonging to the Brazilian citizens. Upon arriving at their hotel in Hollywood, their luggage arrived except for one piece, which contained their passports and other miscellaneous personal items. Mason stated he found the items in a trash dumpster. Due to the recovered items being the property of the Brazilian government, detectives contacted the Brazilian consulate and released the items to their custody. The property was returned to the victims who were returning to Brazil.
