A jury has recommended a life sentence for Robin Kyu Cho, who was convicted by a jury on June 26 for three murders in a Miracle Mile apartment in 2003.
Cho was convicted of killing one of his neighbors, her 2-year-old son and the family’s nanny. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder of the woman and two counts of second-degree murder for the killings of the boy and his nanny.
The jury, after more five days of deliberations, also found true the allegations that the defendant personally used a handgun to commit the murders and that the special circumstance of multiple murders was true. The District Attorney’s Office sought death in the case.
Chi Hyon Song, 30; her 2-year-old son, Hyun Woo Song; and the 56-year-old nanny, Eun Sik Min, were found dead on May 5, 2003, in the 150-unit apartment complex where they lived.
Cho was arrested on March 16, 2009, and the case against him was filed two days later.
He has remained in custody without bail.
