At approximately 11:47 p.m. on June 15, LAPD’s Central Traffic Area office responded to a traffic collision near Figueroa and Temple streets that resulted in injuries to the occupants of both cars involved.
Los Angeles Fire Department rescue personnel responded and pronounced one man dead at the scene. Five people were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The LAPD Central Traffic Area detective’s investigation revealed that a man driving a 2000 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Figueroa Street. As he passed Temple Street, the road curved to the left and he lost control of his car. The car drifted into oncoming traffic where he struck a white Scion containing five male occupants. The driver of the Honda died at the scene.
The name of the deceased is currently being withheld pending notification of family members, and the investigation is ongoing.
