Summer school is a great avenue to keep kids active in the summer, and keep them engaged in academics. The following is a listing of some of the schools offering summer programs.
Marlborough School
Marlborough Private School for Girls is holding co-ed summer school programs from June 25 through July 27.
The summer school program is for students in K-12th grade, and is open to the public. The program follows the theme of “Art, Smart, Heart”, and the week-long sessions include sports camps with tennis, swimming, volleyball, basketball and other activities, as well as art, French, photography, music, drama and self-defense classes, among others. There is also a leadership workshop for students in 6th through 8th grades. Daily sessions run from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., with after-session care available.

Page Private School
Page Private School, which has campuses in Hancock Park and Beverly Hills, is holding summer school courses running from June 18 through July 27.
The program is geared towards students in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. Classes include sports and academic instruction to prepare students for the upcoming school year. There is also swimming instruction and weekly field trips.

Pilgrim School
Pilgrim School is a private college preparatory school serving students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The school was established in 1958 as a division of First Congregational Church. The summer session begins June 11 for students in preschool through high school. The programs include kindergarten readiness, which helps prepare children and parents for the transition into kindergarten, as well as a similar readiness program that prepares students through 5th grade for the next grade. Students will rotate between “mini-classes” to expose them to the arts, physical education, science, music, dance and theater. Pilgrim also holds the Cedar Lake Sleepaway Camp for students in the 3rd through 9th grade.
The middle school programming offers a variety of enrichment and academic courses, such as math readiness at all levels, and fun classes such as robotics, Mandarin, business 101, fashion design, cooking and acting. High School students can choose from a variety of credit recovery and readiness courses offered both online and at school, including AP readiness. Pilgrim School is located at 540 S. Echo Horizon School
For the second consecutive year, Echo Horizon School in Culver City has been named an Apple Distinguished School for its integration of technology in teaching. Echo Horizon School is one of 56 schools in the United States to be honored.
Under the leadership of Director of Technology Elaine Wrenn, teachers and students utilize MacBooks, iPads, and other technology in the curriculum. The Project Based Learning and Challenge Based Learning programs assist Echo Horizon School students in gaining important academic knowledge, as well as 21st Century skills.
Echo Horizon School is offering three separate summer camp programs running from June 18 through July 27. One camp is for kindergarten students, while there are also six, one-week camp sessions for 1st through 4th graders. Also offered is “Tween Adventures” for 5th through 7th graders, also held in six, one-week sessions.

Mathnasium
Mathnasium is enrolling students for its Summer Math Curriculum programs that prevent learning loss and prepare students for the upcoming school year.
The programs run from June 18 through Aug. 26, with the ideal scheduled being two or more sessions per week, running approximately 60 to 90 minutes per session.
Programs include the Master Series, which helps students master math concepts, including times tables, percentages, fractions and the decimal system. Power Math Workouts for elementary, middle and high school students prepare pupils for new concepts to be introduced in the fall semester, and SAT Math 1 preparation is also available. Readiness classes are offered for students in the 4th through 8th grades and up. There are also four-hour sessions of math games offered during the summer, held free for enrolled Mathnasium members. The sessions cover geometry, logic, and number sense.
