The West Hollywood City Council and U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (left) on Monday inducted Councilmember Jeffrey Prang as the city’s newest mayor, marking the fourth time he’s served in the leadership position. Councilmember Abbe Land was inducted as the council’s mayor pro tempore.
As mayor, Prang said his most important job will be providing the right tone and leadership to pursue the city’s agenda. That agenda includes passing a two-year budget in June, making public safety changes and continuing the various projects outlined in the city’s $125 million 25th Anniversary Capital Project, which includes Plummer Park.
Prang stopped his campaign for the California Assembly last year after redistricting maps showed he would be challenging incumbent Betsy Butler, who is a friend of Prang’s and was in attendance on Monday. He said it’s too early to tell if he’ll again pursue higher office.
“That’s a long time away,” Prang said.
