Several times in March, Parks Bureau Sheriff’s Deputies and homeless shelter outreach workers made contact with more than a dozen transients living in the hills surrounding the Hollywood Bowl and Ford Theater. Offers were made for shelter, medical and mental health treatment, and other opportunities to relocate to an environment.

On April 6, personnel from several groups — including the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Parks Bureau, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation, People Assisting the Homeless (PATH) and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Services — combed the area, reaching out to homeless people.

Twenty-five men voluntarily left the encampments and accepted emergency shelter. Employees from the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department collected trash and debris left by the transients.

The Hollywood Bowl facility and Ford Theater are owned and operated by L.A. County, and are under the enforcement of the Parks Bureau of the sheriff’s department.
