A suspect who investigators are calling the “Black Hooded Note Bandit” is being sought for committing three robberies within one hour on March 11 in the LAPD’s Wilshire, West Los Angeles and Pacific Divisions.

The robberies all occurred at fast food restaurants, and in each case, the suspect handed a note demanding money to a cashier. The suspect indicated that he had a gun, however no weapon was observed, and no injuries occurred, according to Det. Raul Lopez, with the LAPD’s Wilshire Division. Police have released surveillance images of the suspect.

“He just goes in, places a note on the counter that says ‘I’ve got a gun, give me all the money,’ and then takes the money from the cashier,” Lopez said. “I think his sweatshirt with a distinctive white design in the center is going to be his undoing.”

The first robbery occurred around 7:30 p.m. on March 11, when the suspect entered a Jack-in-the-Box in the 1900 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard. Around 8:15 p.m., the suspect robbed a Subway restaurant in the 3100 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard, and around 8:50 p.m., he robbed another Jack-in-the-Box in the 11000 block of W. Pico Boulevard.

The suspect is described as being Caucasian or Hispanic, with a light complexion. He is approximately five-feet-four to five-feet-eight-inches tall and weighs between 140 and 160 pounds. The suspect wore a black hooded sweatshirt with a white design and dark colored gloves in all three incidents. No vehicle description was available.

Lopez said he believes the suspect may have been responsible for other robberies in the areas between the locations where the robberies occurred. Anyone with information is asked to call Wilshire Division robbery detectives at (213)922-8215.
