Although Newt Gingrich’s campaign reportedly raised $2 million during his trip to California, the campaign hit a snag when Gingrich’s bus suffered a flat tire in West Hollywood on Wednesday.

WeHo Tweeters seized the opportunity to mock the presidential candidate, who has compared gay marriage to paganism in the past and vowed to defend the Defense of Marriage Act.
“It’s pretty simple: marriage is between a man and a woman,” Gingrich said during a conference call, according to Right Wing Watch. “This is a historic doctrine driven deep into the Bible, both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament, and it’s a perfect example of what I mean by the rise of paganism. The effort to create alternatives to marriage between a man and a woman are perfectly natural pagan behaviors, but they are a fundamental violation of our civilization.”
Those sentiments are likely why some residents held back no punches in making fun of Gingrich’s plight on Sunset Boulevard near Crescent Heights Avenue in West Hollywood, which was reported to Weho Daily’s Twitter feed:
• @3ftswell: Could be worse, could be Santorum’s.
• @ChadDarnell: It’s too bad Newt’s bus didn’t breakdown in front of Rage. That would have been a kiss from baby Jesus.
• @wehoscott: well ya know, Obama got stuck spending the night in the OC, only fitting Newt get stuck in WeHo lol.
• @pizzmoe: I wonder how it feels for Newt to be stuck with the Hollywood elites!
• @3ftswell: I hope Newt takes a walk down to Robertson and grabs a drink at The Abbey while they fix his bus.
• @glaurius: the Newt bus probably wants exposure.. especially if its on Sunset. They probably flattened the tire themselves.
• @GnoccoFritto: Maybe Newt wants to get serviced? Or needs to.
• @panameragirl: I saw the Newt Bus parked next to my hotel Hyatt Andaz yesterday, I put a hex on it. I had no idea my power. LOL.
• @3ftswell: Newt is right at Crunch. Maybe he could pop in and do a couple squats or a spinning class.
• @shayera: Never change, WeHo!
Make that $2 million minus $150 and some pride.
