Executive Chef Joseph Gillard is preparing a pastoral premier lunch and dinner tonight and tomorrow with a chopped kale salad, Tahitian squash soup or duck rillettes with housemade grape mustard for starters. Ale braised venison ragu, lamb meatloaf with warm tabouli salad and a seafood “cio -Pinot” with spicy tomato broth and sourdough crostini are the second courses and the sweet ending is either a cheesecake trio with goat cheese, lemon verbena and honey or a chocolate meringue pot de crème. Garden Event with Homegirl Cafe
Homegirl Cafe will be offering a Family Garden workshop on Sunday, Oct.16 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Learn gardening basics including garden planning, plant selection, seed starting and transplanting. The child-friendly class will end with a fall harvest cooking demo by Chef Pati Zarate and the Homegirls. The workshop is $47 for adults and $10 for children. All farm-to-table proceeds go toward the Homegirl Education fund, benefitting Homegirl Cafe employees. Kerry Simon will be hosting three-course beer pairing dinners every Sunday in October. Each week a different craft brewery will be featured with a special menu. One night the menu may consist of lightly smoked salmon sashimi with pink grapefruit gelee, crunchy cucumber and spiced nuts or beer braised pork belly with pickled cabbage and braised carrots. This Sunday, enjoy a brewery from Fort Bragg, North Coast Brewing Co. that has won over 70 awards in national and international competitions. On Oct. 16, Affligem Brouwerij from Opwijk, Belgium, is here to serve its hoppy amber beer. On Sunday, Oct. 23 sit back and learn about a niche brewery in Chambly, Quebec, the Unibroue Brewery. 1 Year of Fresheast
Celebrate the Pan Asian cuisine’s tonight through Oct. 10 during Fresheast’s first year “Passport to Asia” celebration. Tonight’s country is Korea and menu items include Korean Chili noodles, tiger bowl with shrimp and bulgogi. Proceeds will go towards the Korean Resource Center. Tomorrow night is China, then Japan and Thailand on Oct. 9. Each night leading up to Oct. 10, the restaurant will decorate and create an in-restaurant experience featuring the countries of Korea, China, Japan and Thailand. A portion of the proceeds will go to a charity that benefits that evening’s country. The restaurant is focused on providing healthy, sustainable, and affordable meals for guests. Fresheast donates 10% of proceeds to Doctors Without Borders on Monday nights.
