Robbery detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division are searching for three suspects who shot a store owner in the head during a hold up in the 1300 block of 2nd Avenue on Aug. 15.
The robbery occurred at 9:30 p.m., but authorities declined to identify the name of the store. According to investigators, the three armed suspects entered the store and demanded that an employee take them to the owner, who was in a back room.
The suspects confronted the merchant and stole several thousands of dollars in cash. Although an exact amount was not available. After their demands were met, one of the suspects placed a handgun to the owner’s head and fired one round. Although the owner was struck in the head, the shot was not fatal, and he was later taken to the hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive. The suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. They were described only as three Latino men, possibly of Central American decent. Authorities do not have a motive for the shooting, other than it occurred during the commission of a robbery.
