Los Angeles Police Department detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect in the death a 17-year-old girl who was found near the interchange of the Santa Monica (10) and Golden State (5) Freeways on April 25.
Police believe someone who frequently drives through the area may have witnessed something that will help the investigation.
A homeless person walking along a freeway off-ramp in the area around 9 p.m. found the victim’s nude body lying face down in the brush. Investigators determined from evidence at the scene that the victim had been wrapped in plastic bags and stuffed in a plastic container that was dumped over a concrete barrier along the freeway. When it hit the ground, the container broke open and the girl’s body fell out into the shrubs.
Police have identified the victim, but are not releasing her name because of the ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Douglas Kirkland at (323)342-8953. During weekends and off-hours, call the LAPD’s 24-hour, toll-free number at (877)LAPD-24-7.
