San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito was injured in a two-car collision Wednesday evening in West Hollywood.
The collision occurred around 7:50 p.m. near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Sunset Plaza Drive. According to Lt. Lawrence Del Mese, with the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, Zito was making a left turn from Sunset Boulevard when a taxi allegedly ran a red light and broadsided his vehicle. Zito, who was driving alone, was taken by paramedics to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries and later released. The driver of the taxi was not injured, and he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Del Mese said Zito was not at fault for the collision. No citations were issued, and the collision remains under investigation.
