A residence at 6817 ½ Leland Way was heavily damaged by a fire that erupted in the residence on March 12. Firefighters were called around 6:50 a.m. to the house located just west of Highland Avenue. Approximately 30 firefighters extinguished the flames in approximately 15 minutes. No one was injured in the fire, but two cats belonging to the residents perished in the fire, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Brian Humphrey. The cause of the fire and the estimate of damage is still under investigation, Humphrey added.
