The City of West Hollywood will hold a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday for the West Hollywood Park/Library Parking Structure. West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman, members of the West Hollywood City Council and Darren Gold, president of the board of directors for The Avenues Business Improvement District, will attend the event at 619 N. San Vicente Blvd.
“A new West Hollywood Library has been a vision for the community since West Hollywood was incorporated in 1984,” Heilman said. “The West Hollywood Park/ Library Structure is the first phase of completion for the West Hollywood Park project. We’re excited to provide additional parking in the area and await the final completion of the library project this fall.”
The five-story, 333-space parking structure will serve as a place for visitors and employees from the library and neighboring businesses to park their vehicles. It will also feature three tennis courts on the roof, a state-of-the-art Pay on Foot (POF) station where visitors can pay off their parking tickets via cash or credit card, an advanced validation system for special events and multiple safety features including emergency call boxes.
The hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. Parking rates vary from a $6 to $12 daily maximum.
The city will also host a press tour on April 6 to show off some of the new features of the library. The library will feature an extensive collection of LGBT literature, history and personal materials. It will also feature state of the art technology including 47 internet-equipped computers, a video conferencing room and wireless network transmission.
The outer area will be known as LibraryPark and feature the Ron Shipton HIV Information Center and more than 32,000 square-feet of multi-use space. Other features of LibraryPark will include an open-air court linking the library, the park and San Vicente Boulevard, a career and business center, a large event space and a children’s theatre.
