Emmy-winning actor Alec Baldwin, star of the acclaimed TV series “30 Rock” which is celebrating its 100th episode this spring, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Valentine’s Day, Feb 14, in the category of Television.
Friend and fellow actor Megan Mullally of “Will & Grace” fame, joked that Baldwin’s soap opera experience early in his career prepared him for a bumpy celebrity life, to many laughs, including Baldwin who took the ribbing with a smile.
A native of Massapequa, Long Island, Baldwin praised Los Angeles as his favorite place to work.
“L.A. is the movie and TV capital of the world,” Baldwin said. “There’s no place better to shoot than here.”
Baldwin has appeared in more than 40 films, including Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed,” as well as “The Cooler”, “Working Girl”, “The Hunt for Red October”, “Miami Blues”, “Glengarry Glen Ross”, and most recently “It’s Complicated.” Lauded as the “funniest person on TV” in 2006 by the Chicago Sun Times, Baldwin has hosted “Saturday Night Live” a record 14 times (tied with comedian Steve Martin).
Baldwin’s is the 2,433rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located in front of BESO Restaurant at 6352 Hollywood Blvd.
