I was too young to see the original production of “Hair”, the free-spirited musical from the 1960s, and I’m not sure if I’m old enough now – but I certainly reveled in the revival of this peace-loving, clothing optional show. Perhaps “Hair” is just what we need – a little less uptightness, a little more free love and a lot less rhetoric. Once you let your hair down and just enjoy the music and the outstanding production qualities of the show, you can just relax and let it be. Hearing “Aquarius” and “Good Morning Star Shine” reminded me of Saturday nights in my basement, listening to 45s on the juke box – but now I had a context in which to really hear them.
The show is fun, outrageous and still very pertinent. Leave the under 16 year-olds at home, but take your inner teen and get groovy! Now through Jan. 23.
