A water leak at the corner of Willoughby Avenue and Crescent Heights Boulevard caused by a malfunctioning copper pipe was repaired Tuesday, according to a spokesperson with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The cause of the damage to the pipe, which is one to two inches in diameter, was not determined, nor was the period of time the pipe was leaking.
Some residents in the area claimed that the water had been seeping through the street for a few months and that repeated requests for repairs were not answered.
“Given the speed of car travel and the volume of traffic, the condition of the road is a disaster waiting to happen,” local resident Matthew Jacobs said.
The LADWP said reports of the water leak were received on Jan. 11, and crews moved as quickly as possible to make the repairs.
