A parade was held Wednesday to celebrate the Fairfax Lions Division championships honoring the Fairfax High School football team and marching band. Councilmember Tom LaBonge was in attendance to celebrate the marching band’s second Los Angeles Unified School District championship in four years. The Marching Lions, under director Raymundo Vizcarra, earned first place in the District’s annual competition at East Los Angeles College (ELAC), edging out defending Division 1A champion Locke High School.
The Lions football team won the CIF City Section’s Division 2 championship with a 51-7 victory over Chatsworth High School on Dec. 10 at ELAC. The Lions finished the season with a 12-3-1 overall record and a 3-2 record in the Western League.
