90210 & the Taste of Beverly Hills
The City of Beverly Hills is throwing a “90210” party starting on Thursday, and continuing all weekend with the “Taste of Beverly Hills.” On Thursday, September 2, Larry King will host 9.02.10 day on the rooftop space adjacent to The Beverly Hilton. The event will feature gourmet food from world-renowned chefs, beer, wine and cocktail tastings and live musical performances. The “90210” event goes from 6:30 – 10:00 p.m. The Taste of Beverly Hills features over 40 of the top Los Angeles restaurants. On September 3, from 7-11 p.m. the best in cocktails meets some of the best in the culinary world to sample a “mix” of cuisine, cocktails and music from the city’s top restaurants, mixologists and DJs. Sessions from top chefs will be presented from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on September 4, featuring LG’s Taste of Something Better cooking competition, hosted by chef Tim Love.
The Beverly Hilton will offer festival weekend stay packages starting at $500 a night. Packages include one-night stay and one-evening pass for two guests and parking. 9876 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills. (310)274-7777.
And finally, a Sunday brunch will be held September 5 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., with guests nibbling from a 50-foot table overflowing with breads, pastries, and baked breakfast items, free-flowing Bloody Marys, mimosas and Bellinis, and signature dishes from L.A.’s best brunch spots. A KCRW pie-eating contest hosted by Evan Kleiman will be one of the fun activities of the day.

Eat, Pray, Love Dinner
RockSugar at the Westfield Century City mall is offering a dinner and movie package with nearby AMC Century City. “Eat, Pray, Love” starring Academy Award winning actress, Julia Roberts opened August 22 at the AMC Century City. Anytime between now and September 8, order a four-course dinner and receive two AMC movie tickets good for any movie and valet parking for $48 per person, for parties of two or more.
Guests can experience the unique flavors of India and Indonesia by selecting a first course appetizer, a meat or seafood dish, a rice and vegetable course and dessert. Some of my favorites are the crispy chicken samosas with cilantro yogurt, chicken tikka masala with chutney, festive rice with coconut, lemongrass, pandan leaves and cashews and pistachio and mango kulfi pops with coconut nut brittle. 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, (310)552-9988.
Beats and Bites
The Viceroy Santa Monica is serving up Reggae music and Jamaican/Caribbean cuisine on September 1. Every Wednesday during the month of September, KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad spins music next to the hotel’s poolside scene, while Chef Tony DiSalvo (Whist) prepares black beans, rice and peas, shredded beef, fried plantains, jerk chicken, beef patties, and pork curry bites on customized, individual trays for $25. Sip and Swirl Sonoma
On August 31, a Sommelier from Vinoteque on Melrose will lead guests through an interactive wine journey by serving three Sonoma wines along with three appetizers for $20.10. There is one tasting at 7 p.m. and another at 9 p.m. You must reserve your seat by calling (310)860-6060. 7469 Melrose Ave. The Sip And Swirl event is held every Tuesday. Their website is still under constrauction, but there are a lot of positive reviews on Yelp.
