A valet attendant was killed and two people were injured in a shooting early Monday outside the Guys & Dolls nightclub in West Hollywood.

The shooting occurred around 2:10am outside the nightclub at 8713 Beverly Blvd. Two groups of patrons allegedly became involved in an argument just prior to the nightclub closing at 2:00am, and a short time later, an unknown suspect fired into a crowd standing outside the nightclub, striking the valet and the two other victims.

The suspect was described as an African American man, who was last seen getting into a black vehicle that fled eastbound on Beverly Boulevard.

Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department declined to provide any of the victims’ names. The valet attendant was only identified as being a Latino man. He was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. Authorities said the other victims were a man and woman. No information was released about the extent of their injuries. The City of West Hollywood released a statement Monday in response to the shooting.

“The City of West Hollywood has no tolerance for violence of any kind in our nightclubs, particularly gun violence,” said Tamara White, the city’s Public Information Officer. “We will work quickly to uncover the facts of what occurred early Monday morning and take all necessary actions to ensure that our club operators keep their venues safe. We would like to publicly thank the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station and the Los Angeles County Fire Department employees for their outstanding response.”

Oscar Delgado, the director of public works for the City of West Hollywood, said he was not aware of any previous violent incidents occurring at Guys & Dolls, but said the nightclub was cited for city code violations in March. Delgado said the citation was for allowing underage drinking, and the nightclub’s business license was suspended for two weeks. Following the suspension, Guys & Dolls was placed on probation. He said it was unclear whether any further sanctions may be imposed as a result of the shooting, and added that city officials are waiting for the outcome of the investigation.

“We will take appropriate action once the information is forwarded to us,” Delgado said.
