There was erroneous information published in the July 15 issue of the newspaper. The Farmers Market will not be featuring comedian Jeff Garlin and the USC marching band this weekend, as reported. However, the Market will be hosting a variety of musical acts and fun family activities throughout the summer. The Farmers Market Music Series is in full swing, with Jazz legend Bill Watrous, one of the nation’s most celebrated trombonists, returning to the Market, accompanied by his pal and skillfully compatible musical companion Rob Stoneback on July 22. On July 29, Sydney Weisman and The Chicago Trio return to the Market with their energetic and eclectic evaluation of the great American songbook.
Friday Night Music at Farmers Market continues tonight with the very popular 50 Cent Haircut, fronted by one of the Market’s favorite bartenders. Bad Haggis, with renowned bag piper Eric Rigler, serves up world beat and Celtic tunes on July 23 and the Front Porch Band rocks the West Patio with roots and blues on July 30.
Farmers Market Summer Family Fun continues every other Sunday until August 22. Adventures include the Radio Disney Road Crew on July 25, joined by Mickey O’Connor, Physical Comic Superstar, and a crazy hat-making workshop with Art 2 Go (11 a.m. start time).
On August 8, the Masanga Marimba Ensemble, which features wonderful African and Latin music and a contingent of youthful performers, will join the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, hosting a Latin American arts and crafts workshop. There will be face painting as well.
Family Fun concludes on August 22 with The Groovy David Show entertaining the crowd with song and dance while Kids for Peace hosts a fruit and vegetable mask-making workshop. So why not meet your friends at Third and Fairfax, where there’s always something fun happening at the Original Farmers Market.
